Items Needed for Proper Eyelash Extension Application

When applying eyelash extensions, there are some items it is necessary to have. The proper application of each eyelash extension contributes to the success of the lash extension, ensuring that it stays in place for a longer period of time, and that minimal discomfort results from the wear of your lash extensions. Here are some of the items needed for the proper application of eyelash extensions.

    The extensions themselves

A semi permanent eyelash extension looks just like an individual eyelash. These are not false eyelashes commonly sold in drug stores that are stuck to the skin. Rather, a lash extension is designed to bond on top of the lashes, each individually, to create a natural look. You may need many for the procedure, and it is important to match the extensions as closely as possible to the natural color of the eyelashes.

  • Connector.

    A bonding solution

The bonding solution is a specially formulated product designed to fix the extensions to the eyelashes. A good bonding solution is water, tear, and sweat resistant, and will not run. Most bonding solutions dry rather quickly, and it is possible to leave the salon feeling confident that your lash extensions are properly in place.

  • Connector.

    Tweezers

Fine tweezers ensure the control necessary to properly apply each lash. Because a semi permanent eyelash is so small, a tool offering maximum control is needed. Choose tweezers that fit comfortably in your hand. It is important to properly sterilize tweezers between clients to ensure a safe and hygienic environment.

  • Connector.

    Disposable eyelash comb/brush

The comb side of this device keeps lashes separated during application, ensuring that they do not assume a clumpy appearance. The brush side can be used to enhance the look and length of the eyelash extensions. A disposable comb/brush is best to prevent contamination from one client to the next. It is a nice gesture to give the comb/brush to the client at the end of the procedure, however, to aid him or her in the care of the new lashes.

  • Connector.

    Large round or oval sponge

While not strictly necessary, a sponge can help in the application of eyelash extensions by providing a surface on which to hold the extensions. A white sponge makes it possible to easily see each lash extension (except blond extensions). The sponge also looks more professional and hygienic.

  • Connector.

    Sealer

This is not a necessary item for the application of eyelash extensions, but a sealer can increase the life of each semi permanent eyelash extension by strengthening the bond and providing added coating and protection.

  • Connector.

    Eye gel pads

As a safety precaution, eye gel pads can aid in the technical procedure. Cooling pads can also be a matter of comfort to clients, allowing them to enjoy a soothing eye treatment while receiving lash extensions.

When you have all of the tools necessary to make the application of eyelash extensions a successful procedure, and when it is pleasant for the client, you will build the foundations for repeat customers.
